The most powerful gift I could give my daughter (was my own healing)
May 04, 2025
Motherhood has been the greatest gift of my life—and also my greatest challenge.
Before becoming a mother, I had many ideas about what it meant to love, to protect, to give. But it wasn’t until I became one that I realized just how much of our presence—our energy—shapes the emotional landscape of our home.
When my daughter was little, I was navigating one of the hardest seasons of my life: divorce. I was emotionally torn apart. The sadness, the anger, the confusion—it all lived in my body, in my energy. And even though I tried to shield her from it, she felt it all. She was absorbing the emotional undercurrents I hadn’t yet learned to release.
I remember the moment everything shifted. One of my energy teachers said to me, gently but clearly:
“Your daughter is absorbing your energy.”
That truth cracked me open.
Not because I was doing something wrong—but because I suddenly saw how deeply connected our energies were, and how powerful it could be to change my own energy for her well-being. I wasn’t being asked to fix her. I was being invited to heal myself.
So I began.
I turned inward. I learned how to ground. I practiced releasing the weight I had been carrying. I worked with energy tools to come back to myself—not some ideal version of who I thought I should be, but my true self: clearer, softer, stronger.
Over time, the energy in our home shifted. The more I worked on myself—not perfectly, not all at once, but consistently—the more ease and connection I saw in her. Not because I tried to heal her… but because I was taking responsibility for my own energy.
I learned this truth:
When we shift our own energy, we create space for others to feel safe, seen, and supported.
Now that my daughter is 18, I look back and realize how essential this work has been—not just for me, but for both of us.
Energy work gave me tools to process what felt overwhelming. It helped me release old stories about fairness and failure, and see life from a higher perspective—one connected to soul contracts, to deep love, to the lessons we choose as humans.
It taught me that I don’t have to carry the pain of the past. I can acknowledge it, feel it, and then gently let it go.
Being a mother taught me that my inner state sets the tone of our home. My energy—when clear, grounded, and loving—becomes the sun that warms our family. Not by force. Not by perfection. But through presence, intention, and the quiet strength of leading by example.
And I see now that all mothers—whether they raise children, nurture communities, or birth creative work—are part of something sacred. We don’t need an instruction manual. We’re guided by our intuition, our resilience, and our willingness to keep showing up with an open heart.
So this week, in honor of Mother’s Day, I want to celebrate that courage.
To every mother who is doing the inner work.
To every sensitive soul navigating the world with love.
To every woman holding space for growth, change, and connection—
You are doing something powerful. You are healing something ancient. And your energy matters.
